Private Sector Jobs Now!
January 15, 2010 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
The Business Coalition for Fair Competition (BCFC) will lead several limited government, free market organizations in a news conference to commemorate the 55th anniversary of Bureau of the Budget Bulletin (now Office of Management and Budget) 55-4 during the “Private Sector Jobs Now!” news event, taking place at the National Press Club in Washington, DC at 3:00 pm on January 15.
Published on January 15, 1955 by the Eisenhower Administration, Bureau of the Budget Bulletin 55-4 stated:
“The Federal government will not start or carry on any commercial activity to provide a service or product for its own use if such product or service can be procured from private enterprise through ordinary business channels.”
“Unfortunately, the private sector is hindered by insidious amounts of unfair government competition. On this anniversary of the Federal policy, it is critical that attention be paid to how poorly this policy has been implemented and how devastating the consequences are in today’s economy. It is time to focus on creating private sector jobs now,” said John Palatiello, president of the Business Coalition for Fair Competition (BCFC), sponsor of the event.
